Debts

Track money you owe or are owed, and record payments as they happen.

Debts in Simplony track informal IOUs — money a friend owes you for dinner, rent you owe a roommate, or a loan from family. It's not for mortgages or credit cards (those are better tracked as regular expenses).

Two directions

I owe — you borrowed money from someone. The balance decreases as you pay them back.

They owe — someone borrowed from you. The balance decreases as they pay you back.

Creating a debt

  1. Go to the Debts page and tap Add debt.
  2. Enter who (the counterparty name), how much, and the direction.

Or tell the AI: "I owe Sarah 500 for rent" or "Jake owes me 30 for lunch".

Recording payments

When money changes hands toward a debt:

  1. Open the debt and tap Record payment.
  2. Enter the amount paid.

The remaining balance updates instantly. When it reaches zero the debt is settled.

Why track debts?

It's awkward to forget who owes what. Simplony keeps a clear record so you can settle up confidently — no guessing, no awkward conversations.
